The Farm

The progression of Wellfield Lodge over the past few seasons has seen the fledgling stallion operation develop into an internationally recognised thoroughbred stud boasting a world class stallion line-up, a reputation for presenting first-class yearling drafts and a broodmare band residing on 300 acres of prime Manawatu farmland.

2011 has been an exciting year for Wellfield, with the first foals of resident sire Road To Rock hitting the ground, and Alamosa’s first crop developing into yearlings bound to impress astute judges at Karaka. It has also seen Handsome Ransom further cement himself as an affordable proven stallion, the sire’s progeny in huge demand from Asia with his stock proving so adept to Asian racing conditions.

Wellfield prides itself on positioning their stallions in the market at fees that make them attractive and accessible for breeders. All three of the stud’s stallions offer breeders something unique, coming together to present a stallion roster that appeals to a wide range of breeding requirements.
