Facilities
Wellfield Lodge extends to around 300 acres of prime manawatu farmland, and is a purpose designed thoroughbred operation offering a wide range of services to the racing and breeding industries.
As an operating stud, the farm commits a substantial acreage to it"s resident and visiting broodmares, alongside a fully covered serving barn, and a fully covered veterinary area with crush and padded foal pens. There are a number of small well sheltered paddocks for mares and newborn foals as well as boxes and covered yards for additional care as required. Adjacent to this area are our brand new stallion facilities, boxes and paddocks.
At the heart of the property is the homestead and stables. There are twenty boxes currently in two seperate barns utilised throughout the year, particuarly busy as yearling preperations come around!
Wellfield is a full service facility, also offering breaking, pre-training and agistment facilities. These facilities include a horse walker, covered round pen and 800 metre all weather training track. The paddocking is constructed of horse safe fencing, and includes an area designed to accomadate colts as required.
Pasture management is of the highest standard, and the quality grass is complemented by a first class hard feed program.
