Female Family

The female family of Alamosa is a blend of significant New Zealand bloodlines and Australasian racetrack achievement. His first three dam-sires - Centaine, Sound Reason and Oncidium - have all been champion broodmare sires in New Zealand and each has played a major role in the development of the New Zealand breed.

Centaine in particular has been a revelation in the broodmare sire role. His daughters have left 90 stakes winners, with Alamosa being one of 10 by O’Reilly. Centaine has been Champion Broodmare Sire of New Zealand four times and his daughters have now left a remarkable 19 Group One winners.

Alamosa’s dam, Lodore Mystic, is a full sister to Perfect World, a stakes winner in both New Zealand and Australia. She is also a full sister to Cent From Heaven, a listed placegetter in Australia who has subsequently produced the New Zealand Group Three winner Eloa.

The family is extensive, Alamosa’s fourth dam being the great Star Kingdom mare Starquita, who counts nearly 30 stakes winners among her descendants. The family includes stakes winners of the caliber of Mansingh (NZ Derby), Easter (Spring Champion Stakes), Tristram Rose (Queensland Oaks), Cheviot (South Australian Derby) and No Wine No Song (Sydney Cup).
