Since relocating to Wellfield Lodge in 2007, Handsome Ransom has served a substantially better quality of mare, the first crop of which hit racetracks as three-year-olds in 2011/12.

Heavily supported by the Wellfield Lodge broodmare band, the son of Red Ransom has plenty to offer with 198 foals resulting from his first two seasons in the Manawatu.

With his oldest progeny still only five-year-olds, Handsome Ransom has developed an admirable record with much success in our leading Asian markets. His stakes winning son Fat Kid has lead the way in Singapore, while overall two thirds of his Asian runners have been winners. This success has seen plenty of demand for his stock off New Zealand racetracks, a key feature of Handsome Ransom’s appeal as a sire at the lower end of the market.

Handsome Ransom represents access to precocious racetrack talent and world-class bloodlines. In maintaining his $4,000 service in 2011, Wellfield believes Handsome Ransom represents superb value for breeders as his progeny continue to prove their worth on the track.
