Hattrick of wins for progeny of Wellfield Lodge stallions and jockey Lisa Allpress

Lisa Allpress notched up her fourth for the day when she completed a " hattrick" of wins aboard the progeny of Wellfield Lodge stallions, in punching Wafer through on the fence to take out the R65 1550m to end the card at Awapuni on Saturday. Trained on the track by Mike Breslin for owners Tineke Balcombe (who bred the Alamosa mare out of Salada, by Sandtrap), Gary Punler and Shamrock Racing Syndicate, Wafer's three wins includes the Listed Gore Guineas as a three year old.

Original Gangster today became Road To Rock's 75th individual winner (with them rolling out at a super-impressive 62% winners to runners ratio) when he found plenty, to out-tough the opposition in the maiden 1550m at Awapuni after being posted wide throughout the journey. The victory completed a race to race double for the trainer Roydon Bergerson/rider Lisa Allpress combination with sons of Wellfield Lodge stallions Alamosa and Road To Rock. Original Gangster (out of Bigstone mare Graphite) is raced by his breeders Wellfield Holdings and the nature of his win today points to the lightly-raced 4 year old gelding being ready to follow the " over ground" path that suits many of the Road To Rocks

Alamosa gelding Beefeater (out of Karaka by Kings Island) responded well to the urgings of in-form rider Lisa Allpress when she asked him to take a run along the fence, to score in the Open 1600m Bulls Country Cup at Awapuni on Saturday. Now the winner of seven races for his breeder and owner Christopher Grace, Beefeater who is trained @ Awapuni by Roydon Bergerson, has worked into top form after three placed lead up runs this season and the win on Saturday should set him up well for the Summer missions ahead.
